Jewelry Set Parure Necklace Bracelet Earrings. 18k gold and rose cut garnets. 19th century, France.

Measurements: Bracelet is approximately 6 1/2 inches (16.5cm). Earrings approximately 2 1/8 inches (5.5cm). Length of necklace is 16 1/4 inches (41.5cm) long. Pendant drop is approximately 1 1/2 inches (4cm).

Description : Rare parure or set of jewelry with necklace, bracelet and earrings surviving many generations, intact and together. Garnets set in 18k gold. The earrings are fabulous, long and elegant. Each earring consists of 5 gems, graduated in size from smallest at the top to largest at the bottom. The first four gems are round garnets, beautifully set off in their gold mounts. The earrings terminate with larger, pear-shaped garnet drops. Garnets are connected via a series of handmade round links. Wires of earrings are replacements to facilitate ease of inserting and comfort of wear.

Bracelet is a line of round garnets all of equal size, rose cut and gleaming.

Matching necklace with pear shaped, larger garnets in a triangle surrounding chains suspending an inverted trio of oval garnets with a round, smaller garnet hanging in its center. The upper, outer edges of the pendant portion with spring loops so that the wearer can see what she is doing when she gets dressed (as opposed to fumbling for a clasp behind her neck). Chains throughout are the same hand-made gold little loops.

Marks: Loops above the pear-shaped drop of the earrings with eagle head mark, indicating 18k gold, made in Paris. There are worn marks on the loops of the bracelet and possibly on the necklace, but they are not adequately legible to identify with certainty.

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Small dings on the back of some garnets are mentioned only for the sake of accuracy. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
