Antique Art Nouveau long chain necklace made of 18k gold and Plique-à-jour enamel. Circa 1880-1900.
Measures approx. 27 1/2 inches long (70cm). Weighs 27.9 grams.
Late 19th century chain necklace with strong Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau features. Alternating sections of twisted gold, flat openwork gold hearts in diamonds and disks of gold suspending plique a jour enamel. It is quite rare to find this technique in gold rather than the more common silver. It is very rare to find it in such good condition. Each disk in a combination of green and golden yellow, geometric design. Versatile and flattering, this beautiful necklace combines jewelry with high art.
No hallmarks found, but acid tested for 18 carat gold.
Good condition.
