Antique Victorian brooch / pendant locket. 14k gold, pearls, diamonds and blue guilloche enamel. Made in England, UK, circa 1880's. Measurements: Weight is 6.7 grams. A tad under 1 inch in length (2.6cm). Description : Hearts within hearts and entwined hearts - such romance in a single jewel. The overall shape is that of a heart. Outer border adorned with protruding pearls - believed to be all natural as cultured pearls were not yet made at that time. The beaded gold border with a ribbon of white enamel and gold highlights containing a gently rising rounded ground of beautifully worked blue guilloche enamel in the center of which is a pair of intertwining hearts, each set with a natural pearl and surrounded by a border of rosecut diamonds. The back has a glazed locket compartment. Can be worn as a pendant or a brooch - a hinged loop can be folded up or down so that it can thread a chain or be hidden when worn as a brooch. Hinged pin with sturdy c-clasp. Please note: the enlarged 'photos show the details of the engraving of the guilloche enamel. When seen with the naked eye, unmagnified, the color appears a homogenous, royal blue. Marks and Metal: No marks. Electronic testing showed 14k gold. Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
