Antique Victorian articulated bracelet bangle. Diamonds, silver and gold. Made in France, circa 1890.

Measurements: Weight is 46.2 grams. 7 1/4 inches (18.5cm) long; a tad under 1/2 inch (13mm) wide. 8.56ct diamonds.

Description : A timelessly beautiful bracelet. Gold backed silver, as was the custom during the 19th century in order to show diamonds off to best effect. Built into individual square blocks, each set with an old European cut diamond. Each block is connected to it's neighbours at the corners, leaving rectangular openwork spaces between each section and allowing for total articulation between the sections. This results in a superbly luxurious, slinky effect - the diamonds wrap around the wrist in an almost organic fashion.
Tongue in groove clasp with a safety chain for additional security.
Absolutely fabulous!!

Marks and Metal: tongue has eagle head mark for French 18k gold and another mark that is no longer legible (possibly a maker's mark lozenge). Another, worn French mark on the reverse of the tongue of the clasp. One of the metal blocks on the other side of the clasp has another 2 hallmarks. We tested the gold on the clasp and on the back of the bracelet, behind the silver. The clasp is at least 18k (in fact shows as 20k with electronic tester) as evidenced by the eagle head mark. The layer of gold behind the silver blocks tested as 8k.

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
