Antique Georgian earrings ear pendants. 15ct gold, pink topaz. Made early 19th century - circa 1820. English.

Measurements: Combined weight is 7.0 grams. Length, not including the wires is a little over 1 1/4 inches (3.5cm).

Description : Girandole Georgian earrings. Simple oval surmounts consist of oval shaped pink topaz enclosed in gold collettes, with crimped sides in the form of 3-petalled flowers. Tiny loops connect to a flaring mid-section of fine cannetille work: little golden globules of graduated size, scrolling filigree and very, very fine gold wires, looping around itself and forming a lace-like C-scroll, mirror imaged on right and left and seperated by a line of graduated gold globules. The 3 bottom-most points connect via loops to 3 oval topaz gems that echo the one above. The care lavished on these earrings is shown not only from the beautiful work seen in front, but by the textured backs of the collettes.

Scrolling, elegant, lyrical, full of movement and light, musical and fine workmanship - these earrings are not only beautiful, but they are easy to insert and comfortable to wear.

Marks and Metal: As is to be expected of jewelry of this period, there are no marks on the earrings.

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. The textured surface at the back is rubbed on the middle drop of each earring, presumably where it touches the neck the most (not visible in front). Wires are almost certainly replacements. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
