Antique Regency Georgian earrings ear pendants. 15ct gold and citrines. Made in England, United Kingdom circa 1820's. Measurements: Weight is 8.9 grams. Total length is approximately 1 3/4 4.5cm. Description : Earrings can be worn with tops alone by day, or with top and drop by night for a more elegant look. For this reason, they are called Top-Drop or Day-Night earrings. Golden yellow colored citrines are gently faceted and well-matched. The surmounts are round, enclosed in looping cannetille gold work with minute globes and filigree pyramids that are very finely done. Flower-like. Elongated pear-shaped drops also enclosed in cannetille work with rings of beaded and filigree gold. Very fine detail, typical of really good Georgian jewelry. The tops and drops are joined by a loop that allows the drops to swing and sway independently, as the wearer moves. Original gold wires and tiny catch. The wires go through the ears from back to front, which was the way it was done at that time. Original, Georgian earrings like this have become very rare.
