Antique Art Deco ring. Platinum, diamonds, opal. Made circa 1920's. Unisex - suitable for a woman or a man.
Measurements: Weight is 9.0 grams. Length of opal is 6/8 inch (16mm); Width of opal is 5/8 inch (13mm). US size 8. Can be resized.
Description : Rare black opal in fabulous shades of blue, turquoise and green with a few flashes of orange as the light catches them. Set in platinum with subtle diamond accents - shoulders with baguette diamonds leading to the shank and surrounded by 4 pairs of small round diamonds to enrich the design and balance the look of the mount. Plain platinum shank. While most opals are partially hidden in their mount, this one hides nothing - it is almost a half globe, of oval shape, that rises above the finger with its marvellous tones of blue, gleaming and deepening with flashes of brightness as the wearer moves. Like most opals, there is minor surface cracking, which fortunately, does not detract from the shine and tones. Colors often known as Peacock for good reason - this opal shares the iridescent shades of blue and green of that exotic bird.
Marks and Metal: Engraved inside shank reads 10% (not quite clear) IRID PLAT 024. Metal was also electronically tested to ensure purity.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see description of opal above. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
